OIL keen on petroleum mining lease in Jaisalmer, Bikaner

Under the Discovered Small Field policy, Oil India (OIL) is interested in acquiring a petroleum mining lease (PML) in an area of 67 sq km in Jaisalmer and Bikaner. A proposal has been submitted to the state government in this regard, and action will be taken soon. OIL produces heavy oil and natural gas in the state at Tanot Dandewala and Baghewala, and is exploring PML for five more locations. The state has four petroliferous basins covering an area of 150,000 sq km. Agarwal stated that OIL and ONGC are producing petroleum and natural gas — they hold 11 PMLs — and that the exploration work is being done by Vedanta, ONGC, and OIL under the exploration licence.
