New cable-stayed RoB at Ajni okayed

The Maharashtra government approved a new railway overbridge (RoB) at Ajni in principle. Following a meeting with officials, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the colonial-era Ajni RoB, built in 1927, would be converted into a 220 m cable-stayed RoB. The total cost of this project is Rs 3.26billion. The new cable-stayed bridge will reportedly reduce traffic congestion in this area while also adding to the city's beauty. Construction has been directed to begin immediately. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) requested administrative approval from the government to replace the existing RoB with an eight-lane cable-stayed bridge and elliptical rotary junction.
