Trichy’s first underground power transmission project ready

Tangedco's Trichy urban division has completed the Cantonment locality's first underground electricity transmission project. Tangedco spent 40 lakh to shift the overhead lines to an underground network because the electricity poles in the middle of a residential road were impeding vehicular movement. The work was sponsored by Trichy Corporation as a model project for replicating similar infrastructure in other neighbourhoods. Around 11 steel electricity poles in Raja Colony near the district collector's office were impeding free movement of cars and heavy vehicles in the densely populated area. In June, the corporation allocated funds to convert the overhead high tension (HT) and low tension (LT) lines into subsurface cables based on residents' representations.
