PM Modi to inaugurate Kolkata Metro’s Joka-Taratala route

On December 30, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the recently constructed Joka-Taratala line of the Kolkata Metro (Friday). A virtual inauguration will take place.

On the 6.5-kilometre section of the Joka-Esplanade Metro project's trial run last week (Purple Line).

Shri Arun Arora, the general manager, and other senior Metro railway officials were present throughout the trial. Arora examined the amenities for passengers at various stations along this Joka-Tratala line. He also evaluated the last preparations since it was about to open to the public.

Fare: -
The Railway Board gave its approval to the price structure for this route earlier this month. The minimum and maximum fares for this stretch are Rs 5 and Rs 20, respectively.
List of Metro stations: -

There are six metro stations on this stretch. Those are as follows-
(a) Joka
(b) Thakurpukur
(c) Sakher Bazar
(d) Behala Chowrasta
(e) Behala Bazar
(f) Taratala

The 9.2-kilometre viaduct stretch from the ramp of Joka Depot to the beginning of Majerhat railway station in Sealdah division is known as the Joka- Taratala stretch and is a part of the Joka- Esplanade Purple Line. There have been 110 UTS HH rails utilised in this project.

At each of the six noteworthy stations, there are four lifts with a capacity for 13 people each, eight staircases, and seven escalators. At the platforms, there are also a number of passenger facilities such benches, AFC gates, PA systems, and ATVMs.
