NTPC to establish nano concrete mix
At a cost of Rs 500 million, NTPC Simhadri will build a plant that produces nano concrete aggregate. Sanjeev Kumar Saxena, General Manager, ash management of NTPC stated, "The disaster recovery planning is prepared and construction will commence at the end of the first quarter of 2023. We intend to create ash-based building materials such as fly ash bricks, lightweight aggregate, geoplumer coarse aggregate, and interlocking paver tiles."NTPC is exploring all possible avenues of using fly ash, which can be done by replacing cement, road building, low lying area, and mine filling, with the twin objectives of assisting sustainable development and judicious use of fly ash.
Because the emphasis is on top soil protection, fly ash can be used as an alternative. There will be nearly 300 million tonne of bricks and 300 million tonne of cement used. Around 100 million tonne of sand have been extracted from rivers and topsoil, which should be used for agriculture rather than brick production.
Fly ash can replace up to 35 per cent of original portland cement (OPC) in the production of aggregate sand. In addition to increased long-term strength, durability, and permeability, this can reduce the cost of sustainability. Fly ash can also be used to fill wastelands and low-lying areas in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.
