Modi flags off key railway projects in West Bengal

Through video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off projects worth more than INR 58K million in West Bengal. The prime minister was expected to be in attendance in person at the event in Kolkata. However, given the fact he lost his mother and had to attend her funeral, the inauguration was done virtually.

The Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express and the Joka-Esplanade Metro Project's (Purple Line) Joka-Taratala segment were both officially opened as part of these projects.

The 6.5 km, six-station segment between Joka and Taratala was built for more than INR 24,750 million. The opening of this project will be extremely beneficial to travellers in Kolkata's southern neighbourhoods, including Sarsuna, Dakghar, Muchipara, and South 24 Parganas.
