MMRDA issues tender for Metro Line 12

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has issued a tender for Metro Line 12, which will connect Kalyan and Taloja. According to an official statement from MMRDA, the Rs 54.94 billionproject will begin as soon as possible.

The first tender is for the appointment of a consultant, with additional tenders for other work to follow shortly. The consultant's scope of work includes the detailed design of architectural and building services, including electrical, mechanical, and civil works for Metro Line 12's depot, stations, staff quarters, operation control centre, and auxiliary structures.

The Mumbai Metro Line 12 will span 20.07 kilometres and feature 17 stations.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will fund the project, which is scheduled to be completed in October 2025. Once operational, Metro Line 12 is expected to carry 1.92 lakh riders by 2031, with a peak hour peak direction traffic of 9,156. The line will connect with Metro Line 5 at APMC Market Kalyan and Taloja (Navi Mumbai Metro).
