Traffic-calming measures are used by NHAI on the Mumbai-Agra motorway
In order to reduce traffic accidents, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Nashik division
has implemented ‘traffic-calming measures’ at nine intersections along the Mumbai-Agra route.
Dileep Patil, Manager (Technical) of NHAI Nashik stated that “These are temporary mitigations of
blackspots. To avoid accidents at certain locations, we are installing rumbler strips, cat-eyes, solar
blinkers, etc. in accordance with regulations.” Following the tragedy at the Mirchi hotel in October,
all relevant departments have begun making efforts to reduce traffic accidents in the
neighbourhood. The road safety projects, according to NHAI officials, are being carried out by the
contractors. The Mumbai-Agra motorway passes through the city at nine important intersections. At the intersections where accidents frequently happen, precautions are being made to reduce accidents. Senior district administration authorities have directed the Nashik NHAI to start all road safety- related projects on the highway right away. Work is being done as part of the same project in Vilholi, Raigad Nagar, Wadivarhe, the intersection of the Jain Temple, the Rasbihari intersection, etc.
