60% of track laying work completed in Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Corridor
According to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), construction on the subterranean Mumbai Metro Line 3's track laying has been completed to around 60% of its original scope (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ).The first underground metro corridor in Mumbai is the 33.5-km-long Metro-3 corridor that runs along Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ.
On August 30, Metro-3's Aqua Line's test run got under way.
Phase 1 of the project has accomplished 82% of its entire progress.
Phase 1 stations are almost 90% ready, and 55% of the system work has been completed.
In preparation for track laying work, the head hardened (HH) rails are being set up. The HH rails can sustain pressure that is over 50% more than normal rails can.
They are manufactured in Japan and imported there.
By installing these rails, the amount of 22VdB (vibration measurement) noise and vibration produced when the trains run will be reduced.
India will use the low vibration track (high attenuation) technology for the first time.
