MSE's corner 55% of total orders placed on GeM portal

According to a senior government official, micro and small businesses (MSEs) have accounted for almost 55% of all orders submitted on the GeM public procurement platform during FY2020-21.

All central government ministries and departments can now purchase goods and services online through the Government e-Market (GeM) site, which was introduced on August 9, 2016. According to GeM CEO PK Singh, the public procurement policy for MSEs requires that 25% of the goods and services be purchased from these businesses, and that 3% of those businesses be controlled by women.

"On GeM, MSEs have obtained 55.2% (1,418,870 million) of the overall order value (2,572,630 million), and since FY2020-21 till now, MSEs owned by women have secured 8% (113,730 million) of the MSE orders. The figures demonstrate GeM's inclusivity "said Singh to PTI.
