Diaspora strengthens India's ability to serve globally: Pradhan

According to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a flexible model with different entry-exit and skilling pathways that put a focus on developing capabilities is what we anticipate for a skilling strategy under the new education policy. He continued, "The Indian workforce is diligent, trustworthy, and accountable, and India has the potential to become the world's centre for skilled labour."

At the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2023, he was speaking at the plenary session on "Enabling Global Mobility of Indian Workforce - Role of Indian Diaspora."

Addressing to the audience, Pradhan stated that our diaspora is an essential component of Indian civilization and has contributed significantly to the country's long history. He discussed the contribution of the diaspora in developing a new Indian paradigm for serving mankind as well as improving the capacity and mobility of India's workforce.

He also mentioned how technology is opening up new possibilities. The thriving Indian diaspora is a group in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has great faith. He voiced his faith in the 32 million-strong Indian diaspora, saying that they will use their knowledge and experience to strengthen India's ability to serve the world community. Pradhan met with members of the Indian diaspora in Mauritius and Kuwait. He appreciated their ideas for educating young people about Indian culture, spirituality, and heritage. The Minister discussed how NEP 2020 focuses on education that is rooted in Indianness while also being modern.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the government's flagship event. It provides an important platform for engaging and connecting with overseas Indians, as well as allowing the diaspora to interact with one another. The theme of this PBD Convention is "Diaspora: Reliable partners for India's progress in Amrit Kaal". The PBD Convention has been registered by over 3,500 diaspora members from nearly 70 countries.
