Use of prefab to accelerate road construction

V K Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, has stated that prefabricated materials would be used to construct roads, potentially accelerating highway construction from the current 33 km per day to 100-150 km.

The minister said there is a lot more emphasis being placed on this, and time will not be far off when the road surface will be made using prefabricated items that will come from factories and just be laid. This will help in accelerating the construction of roads.

Participating in a conference titled "Decarbonizing Construction: Singh stated that the standards for alternative fuels are also being established for building a low carbon future. Effort is being made to use biofuels in the aviation sector ensuring that safety is not compromised. Research remains ongoing.

Likewise, green highways are also something the government has been working on, to cut down on CO2 emissions, the road ministry is building expressways, and highways with ample greenery on both sides. The government has also reached agreements with central village groups in many areas to take care of these plantations.
