Mumbai Metro: 2A & 7 services to begin from 20 Jan

PM Modi will flag off Phase II of Metro 2A and 7 services, which serve the Western Suburbs, on January 19, although actual commercial operations won't start until January 20.

S V R Srinivas, the metropolitan commissioner, declared: "We have decided to start the commercial run at 4 pm on January 20.

During peak hours, the services will be offered at a frequency of every eight minutes. The time between trains will be reduced to 10 minutes during non-peak times.

The Metro services will initially run with just 22 rakes, even though there are 28 rakes available out of the 44 needed to operate the routes.

Eknath Shinde, the chief minister, said: & We are here to check this metro line, jointly the metro lines 2A (Andheri-west to Dahisar), Metro 7, before of PM Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai on January 19. (Andheri East to Dahisar). It will greatly relieve traffic and greatly benefit Mumbaikars living in the western suburbs.

Bharat Earth Movers Limited constructed the 2,280 passenger-capable six-car rakes as a part of the Make in India initiative. Srinivas stated, "We will raise the frequency to 4-5 minutes," as new rakes are introduced to the fleet.

From Andheri-west (Line 2A) to Gundavali (Line 7), the first service will depart at 6 in the morning, and the last service will depart at 9.24 in the evening. The first train leaving Gundavali will run at 5.55 in the morning, and the last one will leave at 9.24 in the evening. The trains won't stop in Dahisar along the entire length of Lines 2A and 7.

The journey from Andheri-W to Gundavali via Dahisar would take 75 minutes. But the 18.6 km on Line 2 between Andheri-W and Dahisar and the 16.5 km on Line 7 between Dahisar and Gundavali will only take you 40 and 35 minutes, respectively.

We anticipate that the daily ridership would reach 4-5 lakh, according to Srinivas. Currently, 39,000 people use Phase I of both of these lines (Dahanukarwadi-Dahisar-Aarey), although officials claim the short route does not link to high-density areas of Andheri. The minimum and maximum fares are respectively Rs 10 and Rs 60.
