CIL arm to introduce new dust control technology

The consultancy arm of the state-owned CIL Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Ltd invented and patented a system and method for controlling the generation and movement of fugitive dust.

Fugitive dust is a type of particulate matter that contributes to air pollution and is generated from a variety of sources that are exposed to air but are not discharged into the atmosphere via a confined flow stream.

This system can be used in mines, thermal power plants, railway sidings, ports, and construction sites where coal or other fugitive materials are stored outdoors. It will not only reduce dust generation from open sources, but it will also reduce noise. Coal and lignite PSUs under the coal ministry work tirelessly to produce quality coal in an environmentally responsible manner in order to meet the country's energy needs.

Coal/lignite PSUs are taking a variety of measures to prevent or mitigate air pollution caused by coal mining and related activities.
