Gujarat to receive INR 126 billion from Center for infra development
The state of Gujarat would receive an additional INR 126 billion from the federal government for the
construction of roads, bridges, and logistic parks, according to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road
Transport and Highways. He claims that this budget will include INR 60 billion for the construction of
multimodal logistics parks in the state and INR 10 billion for the construction of road over bridges or
road under bridges on roads other than national highways. The minister was in Gujarat to evaluate the progress of various highway projects carried out by the National Highway Authority of India. According to Gadkari, “Gujarat would receive an additional fund under the yearly plan amounting to INR 26 billion. Roads inside municipal limits, district roads, and state highways will all receive an additional INR 30 billion in investment. We will contribute INR 10 billion to the Setu Bandhan project in order to build ROBs and RUBs on state roads.”
“We would allocate INR 60 billion for multi-modal logistic parks, and we would give Gujarat a total of INR 126 billion,” he added. The 109 km long Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, which will connect Ahmedabad to the upcoming Special Investment Region and Dholera Smart City, would be finished by January 2024. An official notification states that the highway project's construction began in 2021 and that roughly 21% of the work has been finished.
Gadkari claims that the basis of the roadway is being constructed using about 2 million metric tonnes of solid waste produced inside the boundaries of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and 25 lakh metric tonnes of ash produced by thermal power plants.
