Phase 2 land takeover for Jewar Airport to begin soon

The district government will need an additional week to finish the survey for the land acquisition for phase 2 of the Noida international green field airport in Jewar.

The second phase's property acquisition has been approved, but officials said a survey or census would be conducted to establish how many individuals and families will ultimately be impacted.

The government decides on the compensation and relocation conditions for the impacted families based on the survey results. While the five villages of Kureb, Dayanatpur, Karauli Bangar, Mudrah, and Birampur have finished the survey. Ranhera village, the sixth and last hamlet from which land will be purchased for the second phase, is still in the midst of it.

A total of 1,365 hectares are designated for the airport's second phase, 1,185 of which are owned by farmers and must be purchased. The project's first phase, which will consist of a terminal building covering a total area of one lakh square metres and having a 1.2 crore passenger capacity annually, is now under construction.

The poll was supposed to be completed in a month from when it began in December. But it's already taken more than two months. One of the main causes of the delay is the region's increased number of land transactions, which have significantly altered the conclusions of the initial survey.

According to a preliminary survey of the region, 7,164 farmers must get compensation at a rate of Rs 3,400 per sq m (plus additional incentives under the rehabilitation and resettlement process, or R&R) in order to recover.

Every adult in the impacted family from whose land is being acquired would get an additional compensation of 5 lakh as part of the additional benefits under the R&R procedure.
