Revised Chilla elevated road budget sent to IIT-Roorkee for review

The Noida authority has stated that the proposed 5.5-kilometer Chilla elevated road has a budget of INR 8000 million and is intended to alleviate traffic congestion on the Delhi-Noida link road, which connects Delhi's Mayur Vihar to the Noida Expressway.

According to officials, the budget has been approved by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Mumbai, which acts as a consultant for such projects.

The budget was reviewed by IIT-Mumbai by the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBC), a construction-related state agency. We have also sent the estimate to IIT-Roorkee for re-vetting. The project engineer for the Noida authority, Vijay Rawal, stated, "We will move the project to the next stage once it approves the budget."

In November of last year, the authority rejected the INR 10,760 million budget claim made by the UPSBC. The UPSBC claimed the budget on the grounds that the escalation was excessive. It also directed the company to change the budget.

The project has been impacted by the UPSBC's numerous budget revisions. The project's cost has decreased significantly as a result of changes to the drawings that reduce the amount of steel and other construction materials used. Work will restart at the site after IIT Roorkee approves the budget in a week.

After chief minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone for the project on January 25, 2019, the authority began work on the Chilla elevated road. In March 2020, at its 200th board meeting, the Noida authority asked its employees to stop working on the Chilla elevated road because of a financial crisis. Interestingly, this was the first time the board had taken the decision to stop working on such a large infrastructure project due to a lack of funds.
