PWD suggest alternative proposal for Panhala road

A proposal for the construction of an alternative road to the Panhala fort at a cost of 2.7 crores has been sent to the state government by the Public Works Department (PWD). It is likely that the proposal will be approved soon.

The landslides and road cave-ins that occurred last year have largely affected the existing road.“An alternative road to the existing route will be constructed as a precautionary measure so that the connectivity to Panhala fort is not affected during heavy rain or landslides,” a PWD official said on condition of anonymity.

The state ministry has been sent a similar proposal. From Budhwar Peth, Lata Mangeshkar Bungalow, Tin Darwaza, and the Baji Prabhu Deshpande Statue to Panhala fort, a different 2.5-kilometer route has been proposed. Through Rede Ghati road, it will also connect Panhala fort to Pawangad fort. The 800-meter portion of the proposed 2.5-kilometer road will traverse forest land. We are pursuing approval of the same with the forest department.
