Rajasthan budget calls for 11 GW of energy projects in FY2023–24

Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister, Rajasthan, stated at the presentation of the 2023 Budget that the state has set a goal to install 11 GW of renewable-based energy projects during FY 2023–24.

Solar Power

Renewable energy developers planning to establish projects in Rajasthan will receive exemptions from stamp duty and land tax.

According to Gehlot, this would lead to a decrease in the electricity tax on solar energy from Rs 0.60/kWh to Rs 0.40/kWh, which is anticipated to benefit consumers who use domestic net metering.

Additionally, fees for finance, wheeling, and transmission would not apply to captive solar power plants.

The firm must utilise the whole amount of energy produced by these projects in order to receive the advantage.

Additionally, to meet their power needs, investors can set up captive solar power projects with a capacity greater than the agreed-upon need.

Transmission and distribution of power

To remove renewable energy from the area, the state has suggested creating the Bhadla-Bikaner bulk power corridor.

To accurately track energy production and consumption, an integrated real-time data and command centre based on cutting-edge data analytics will be set up. The approximate cost of this is Rs 750 million. Under the Chief Minister's Free Electricity initiative, consumers who use less than 100 kWh per month will receive free electricity.
