Nepal, India agrees to allow export of power longterm basis

During a bilateral meeting held here on Monday, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra and his Nepali counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal discussed a variety of topics of Nepal-India relations and reaffirmed their commitment to allowing long-term power exports from Nepal to India. Kwatra came to this country on a two-day official visit to hold discussions with the top leaders of the nation about a variety of topics, including connectivity, trade and transit, cooperation in the power sector, agriculture, education, culture, the health sector, and interpersonal relations, among others.

Kwatra met his Nepalese colleague Paudyal shortly after his arrival, and according to a statement from the Nepalese Foreign Ministry, "the two sides reviewed with pleasure the progress made in the connectivity projects such as trains, transmissions lines, bridges, and the ICPs.

"The two parties also pledged to support long-term power exports from Nepal to India that make use of all exchange market goods. They also talked about speedy approval of the four planned transmission line projects under the LOC-IV and technical upgrading of transnational transmission lines "The declaration said.
