Air India to buy 250 planes from Airbus, 220 from Boeing

As the airline begins on a restoration journey under the control of the salt-to-steel conglomerate, Tata Group, Air India will purchase 470 new planes from Airbus and Boeing. One of the largest purchases in the history of contemporary aviation, the carrier is purchasing 250 planes from Airbus and 220 from Boeing, with a total projected value of around $100 billion at list prices. However, manufacturers provide significant savings for large orders.

210 narrow-body aircraft, including 120 A320 Neos and 40 A321 Neos, as well as 40 wide-body A350-1000 and A350-900 aircraft, are included in the Airbus deal.
