New tender floated for Mandiri drain work

This new two-lane road will connect Patna's Bailey Road on one side and the Danapur-Gandhi Maidan road near the Siddeshwari Kali temple on the other once it is finished. On one side, this road begins opposite the planetarium and ends near the Kali temple on the other. Not only will it reduce traffic congestion, but it will also help clear the drains of waste, which are currently jammed. Currently, commuters are also at risk from the open drain, and several accidents have also occurred.

According to sources, the ongoing construction work was stopped last year due to the agency that won the contract delaying project completion. A new tender has now been put out, and the deadline to submit it is February 23. A source stated, "The previous agency had completed nearly 7 per cent of the work. Once the agency is selected after going through the bidding process, it will be given 12 months to complete the project from the date the contract is awarded." The two-lane road will have a length of more than 12 km as part of this upcoming project. This road will be constructed using a double-barreled RCC box that can be opened from the top to clean the drain. Along the new two-lane road on the drain, there will also be a service lane and a number of other amenities like benches and trash cans, landscaping, a green area, and street lights. The estimated cost of the project as a whole is around Rs 905.50 million.. Chief minister Nitish Kumar laid the groundwork for the upcoming two-lane road on the Mandiri drain in December 2021.
