DMRC to build metro lines in Bahrain
A significant milestone is that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been awarded the
contract to build Bahrain Metro's Phase-1 Project. The project entails the construction of a 20-
station, almost 3030-kilometer network.It has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BEML Limited, according to DMRC. In accordance with the agreement, BEML will assist in the production and supply of rolling stock. On the other hand, DMRC will support the Bahrain Metro Project by offering knowledge in the areas of project planning and budgeting, as well as working on the contractual duties. $2 billion worth of the agreement has been inked, it continued.
Saleem Ahmed, Executive Director (Last Mile Connection), Delhi Metro, and D S Ganesh, General Manager (Marketing), BEML, both signed the contract. Amit Banerjee, chairman of BEML, and DMRC managing director Vikas Kumar were also present.
DMRC will construct four metro lines for Bahrain Metro in two phases as part of the project. At the metro junction of Bab Al Bahrain and Al Farooq, two interchanges are also anticipated. The first metro line will run from Bahrain International Airport to Seef Mall, according to the DMRC. King Faisal Highway and Airport Avenue will be traversed. It will be 13 kilometres long, with 9 stations.
Juffair to Issa town will be served by the second metro line. There will be 11 stations along its 15.6- kilometre length. Together with other places, it will link Salmaniya, Zinj, and Tubli.
