4-lane wide section of NH-344A from Phagwara to Rupnagar is being built

NHAI has developed a 4-lane wide section of NH-344A from Phagwara to Rupnagar with the goal of significantly improving Punjab's road infrastructure.

The project is being carried out in Hybrid Annuity Mode at a cost of Rs 13.67 billion and spans 80.82 kilometres. The section connects the major cities of Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Chandigarh, as well as Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ropar, and Mohali.

According to the Minister, the alignment cuts travel time from Jalandhar to Chandigarh in half and provides direct access to Khatkarkalan, Shaheed Bhagat Singh's ancestral home.

This Green Highway is fully saturated with healthy flowering plants throughout the stretch, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of building sustainable infrastructure. It is also regarded as one of Punjab's safest highways, and it promotes socio economic development in the region.
