Gadkari approves a 6-lane Access Controlled Greenfield Highway project

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, approved Rs 12.92 bn under the Bharatmala Pariyojana for the development of a 32 km long 6-lane Access Controlled Greenfield Highway in Andhra Pradesh from Chandrasekharapuram to Polavaram on the (NH-544G) Bengaluru-Vijayawada Economic Corridor in Hybrid Annuity Mode.

In a series of tweets, the minister stated that the Bengaluru - Kadapa - Vijayawada Economic Corridor begins at the Bengaluru STRR and extends until the Kodikonda check post on NH 44.

Gadkari went on to say that the proposed Greenfield Economic Corridor would run from the Kodikonda checkpoint (Kodur village) on NH-44 (Bangalore - Hyderabad Road) to Muppavaram village near Addanki on NH-16.

According to the minister, the alignment uses the existing NH-16 from Muppavaram to Vijayawada. "The entire corridor from Kodikonda checkpost to Muppavaram with a length of 342.5 Km is completely a Greenfield highway. This stretch in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district is proposed to be developed in 14 packages."
