Indore Metro’s yellow line train maintenance depot being constructed

The viaduct and stations of Yellow Line of Indore Metro are undergoing visible progress in the construction. Another important development is the train maintenance depot between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor 6 stations. A contract of Rs 2.47 billion was given to K.S.M. Bashir Mohd. and Sons to build the 26.25- hectare depot in 2022 by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Company Ltd. Under the Phase 1 of Package IN-07 of the Indore Metro, it should be finished in the next three years.

The depot will be utilised to store and maintain Indore Metro’s Alstom train-sets that will operate the Yellow Line. The route will connect Palasia, Railway Station, Rajwara, Airport, and Bhawarsala as it forms a ring around the city of Indore. The Indore and Bhopal Metro has awarded Alstom a contract to provide 156 coaches of rolling stock, with 25 train sets of 3 coaches (a total of 75 coaches) to be given initially. The trains final design has not yet been made public.
