Delhi’s traffic congestion to ease with the planned 15 mega projects
According to Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister, Delhi, 15 mega projects to reduce traffic
in the capital are in the pipeline. He criticised the previous administrations for not
doing enough to address the issue. In contrast to the 74 structures that were created
over the previous 65 years, he stated that his government had built 27 flyovers and
underpasses in the last seven years.During the dedication of the Ashram flyover extension, the AAP convener provided information on the many projects that are currently in progress. “Delhi currently has 101 flyovers and underpasses, and within the last seven years, AAP government has built 27 of them. The remaining 74 flyovers and underpasses were constructed over a 65-year period prior to the election of our government,” he added.
According to Kejriwal, multiple flyover projects are now under construction in different areas of Delhi, which would assist to reduce traffic congestion. According to him, 15 massive projects involving flyovers, its expansion, or doubling are currently in the pipeline. He described the specifics of these projects, stating that a six-lane flyover near Punjabi Bagh is now being built and is anticipated to be finished by December 31 of this year.
According to the chief minister, flyover construction at Anand Vihar Road No. 56 would be finished by August 31 while current work to double the flyover at Sarai Kale Khan is anticipated to be finished by July 31 of this year. He said that a flyover was also being erected at the Gagan Cinema on Mangal Pandey Marg.
The Delhi CM added that there are plans to regularly clean and wash all of the city’s roadways as well as use mechanical sucking equipment to remove dirt in order to beautify them. Cleaning 1,480 km of PWD roads wider than 60 feet wide would be the first phase of the project.
He also stated that “There have already been significant improvements to the city's appearance, with many areas now featuring flower strips and beautiful lights. The Delhi government will continue beautifying and maintaining the streets of Delhi and more roads will undergo similar transformations.”
