RBL introduces the first U-Girders for the Ahmedabad Metro

Ranjit Buildcon Ltd. (RBL) has achieved a significant milestone in the Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 project by launching the first pair of U-girders for Package C3. The package connects Sector-1 to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar and consists of 7 elevated stations. RBL was subcontracted to carry out the construction works, and a total of 430 U-girders will be launched by the company.

The launching of U-girders is an essential step in the construction process of an elevated metro project as they serve as the primary support structure for the elevated tracks of a metro rail system. The Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 project involves the extension of Ahmedabad’s north-south Red Line by 22.838 km from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir via 20 new stations with a 5.416 km spur from GNLU to GIFT City which includes 2 new stations. The extension of the Red Line will improve connectivity and accessibility to key areas of the city.
