10 T Carer Electric forklifts added by ABP Humber

As part of its investment in the decarbonisation of its port operation equipment, ABP Humber has added four 10 T Carer electric forklifts. ABP is spending over GBP2 million (USD2.43 million) to increase the number of electric forklifts in its fleet. Ten more electric forklifts will be sent to the Humber Port later this year for public usage. The investment also covers the installation of vehicle charging stations and storage shelters.

“ABP Humber has ambitious intentions to deliver its port operations using renewable energy,” stated Simon Bird, Director, Humber. Saving money on rising energy costs not only benefits our business, but it also enables us to assist the development of sustainable supply chains for many of our clients without sacrificing effectiveness and, most importantly, safety.

The integrated rear-view camera on the new electric forklifts helps terminal workers move backwards safely, and the overhead guards are made to provide for high visibility in all directions.

Immingham Fertilizer Terminal and Immingham Bulk Park work together to a great extent to supply fertiliser to the agricultural sector. In order to make sure landowners receive just what they need to maintain the health of their soil, which in turn promotes healthy crops, the two terminals include bagging and blending operations. Before the goods travels farther, it will be stored safely and securely using the electric forklifts.
