Sonowal inaugurates 'Sagar Manthan'

Sagar Manthan, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways' (MoPSW) real-time performance monitoring dashboard, was virtually launched on March 23rd by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal. Sagar Manthan is a digital platform that houses all of the Ministry's and its subsidiaries' integrated data. It was dedicated in the presence of Shripad Y. Naik (MoS, MoPSW), Shantanu Thakur (MoS, MoPSW), and other Ministry officials.

At the launch, Sonowal stated that the Sagar Manthan dashboard is a step forward towards PM Narendra Modi's Digital India vision and will have a significant impact on the overall performance of the ministry and its departments.

This dashboard will improve well-coordinated real-time information, transforming the operations of various departments, and was developed entirely in-house in less than 1.5 months under the supervision of Sudhanshu Pant (IAS), Secretary, MoPSW.

Sagar Manthan includes the following features and will aid in project monitoring, ensuring project completion on time, informed decision-making, and increased efficiency and effectiveness. It also encourages project tracking in real time, risk management, resource allocation, and progress reporting.

In the future, this dashboard will be integrated with CCTV camera input, live drone streaming, an Al- based algorithm to map actual progress, a digital twin feature on board, and a mobile app for easy access and usability by all stakeholders for improved efficiency.
