New road initiatives to reduce Mohali's traffic congestion

The linkage with industrial towns is the primary goal of the new roadways. For certain projects, building has already begun, and land acquisition is in progress.

The NHAI, PIU-Ambala is in charge of the package-I, which departs from Ambala-IT City Chowk. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)-Chandigarh is in charge of the projects. Nonetheless, the District Revenue Officer is in charge of the land purchase work (DRO).

The administration asserts that the issue of traffic on the Kharar-Banur-Tepla Section and in the Zirakpur area will be remedied with the completion of these projects since traffic from the existing stretch will be diverted onto the aforementioned new greenfield or brownfield roadways.

The whole traffic coming from Ambala for Roopnagar-Sri Anandpur Sahib-Manali will be accommodated by the new proposed greenfield route.

Also, the Zirakpur bypass will accommodate all of the traffic travelling between Mohali and Panchkula. In addition to the aforementioned, numerous more greenfield alignments have also been approved by the NHAI to ease long-distance traffic and relieve congestion on the region's existing national highways in the districts of Mohali and Ropar.
