Green projects emphasised in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation budget

The project has a budgetary allocation of Rs 550 million. Strengthening the city's decentralised trash management will be given equal emphasis. The corporation made the decision to separate rubbish by over 80% throughout the city in the wake of the Brahmapuram fire event.

Other significant budget highlights included the provision of drinking water to every household, the connection of sewage systems, universal housing, the expansion of municipal facilities, the construction of basic infrastructure, and initiatives that favoured women.

With a total revenue income of Rs 16.40 billion and a total expenditure of Rs 15.04 billion, P K Raju, Deputy Mayor, presented the budget. The city's total development, including infrastructure, health, education, and uplift for the underprivileged, was also promised in the budget.

According to Raju, the authority will soon purchase 100 e-buses as part of the carbon-neutral project, enabling a complete switch to electric mode for public transportation. For a thorough waste management plan, the corporation has set aside Rs 430 million. At least 1 lakh homes will have bio/kitchen bins installed during the upcoming fiscal year. Fresh initiatives will be started to get rid of napkins and e-waste in collaboration with various private agencies.
