Rural housing under the flagship programme increased by 25% in FY23

In FY23, India built 5.28 million homes under its flagship rural housing programme, a 25% increase from the previous year.

The nation plans to build 5.73 million homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), which will allow it to achieve the overall goal of creating 29.5 million homes under the programme to ensure "housing for all" by FY24.

With 3.42 million homes built in the state thus far, Madhya Pradesh has benefited from the programme the most overall. This is followed by Uttar Pradesh (3.21 million) and Jharkhand (1.52 million).
