Across 21 dump sites in the Kolkata Metropolitan Area and other parts of the state, the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) and the state urban development agency intend to launch an integrated solid waste management project. Fresh solid waste, segregated waste, and legacy waste will all be removed as part of the project. By using bio-mining and bio-remediation techniques, the dump sites will be cleaned. To estimate the size and volume of the landfill, officials are surveying the area with drones. The surveys are carried out to determine the time needed to remove waste and clean the sites, according to a few statements from officials. The project will be taken on by agencies. The removal of legacy waste will be accomplished through bio-mining and remediation. Composting and other techniques will be used for fresh waste, he added.
There will be a pre-tender meeting soon. After inviting agencies to submit their ideas, a comprehensive final document will be released. To completely clean up the Mollar bheri land, municipal organisations including the BMC have been working on bio-mining.
