10,331 km of national highways will be built in 2022-2023

According to the most recent data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), 10,331 kilometres of National Highways (NH) were constructed in 2022-2023, which is 2% less than the government’s aim of 12,500 miles. In the most recent fiscal year, the ministry granted NH projects having 12,376 km length. According to a tweet from the ministry, "Moving forward, MoRTH constructed 10,331 km of National Highways in the financial year 2022-23 and awarded NH projects of 12,376 km during this period.

India's national highways and motorways are mostly built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL). According to the government, 10,237 km were built in 2019-20, followed by 13,327 km in 2020-21, and 10,457 km in 2021-22.
