Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan flyover to be ready by July

The second flyover at Sarai Kale Khan, which is being built by the Public Works Department (PWD) to relieve congestion on a busy section of the Ring Road, will be completed by July, according to PWD minister Atishi. During a site inspection, the minister directed department officials to speed up the work so that it could be open to commuters as soon as possible.

"The new flyover will create a signal-free corridor at the Sarai Kale Khan T-junction on Ring Road, saving time and fuel." "When the three-lane flyover is completed in July, it will provide relief to lakhs of commuters who travel between ITO and Ashram on a daily basis," said Atishi.

She also stated that the construction of the flyover will save Rs 19 crores per year and reduce CO2 emissions by five tonnes per day. She estimates that the project's costs will be recovered in about 30 months. Sarai Kale Khan, according to Atishi, is one of Delhi's busiest traffic hotspots, with a railway station, metro station, and ISBT nearby. A rapid rail transit system is also in the works. "It will transform Sarai Kale Khan into a one-of-a-kind transportation hub, but it will also increase vehicle traffic."

"The new flyover will ensure smooth traffic movement in the area," said Atishi. "Currently, a flyover is available for commuters moving from Ashram to ITO, but because of the signal on the opposite route, they face problems due to snarls," she added.
