Himachal’s tribal villages to thrive under vibrant villages programme

The 'Vibrant Villages Programme' initiated by the Centre will focus on the development of Chhitkul, Pooh, Nako, Leo, and Chango villages in Himachal Pradesh, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Power. Union Minister RK Singh made this announcement during his visit to Chhitkul village in the Kinnaur district of the state. The minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy, stated that a Central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) would adopt Chhitkul and collaborate with the state government to transform it into a vibrant village.
During the visit, Minister RK Singh was joined by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in an interactive session with the local villagers. Singh revealed that Chhitkul, Pooh, Nako, Leo, and Chango villages in the Kinnaur district would be the primary beneficiaries of the Vibrant Villages Programme.
Singh acknowledged Himachal Pradesh's rich cultural heritage and emphasised that the tribal areas possessed a distinct identity, attracting people from around the world. As part of the development plan, a one-megawatt power plant would be established in Chhitkul. Additionally, the possibility of setting up micro hydel projects along the area's rivulets would be explored. To promote tourism activities and showcase the region's rich cultural heritage, a cultural and tourist center would also be established in Chhitkul, as stated by Minister Singh.
