Gadkari launches Rs 8,000 cr highway projects in UP

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, inaugurated the commencement of ten major National Highways (NH) projects in Uttar Pradesh, with a combined value exceeding Rs 8,000 crore. The projects consist of five NH initiatives worth Rs 2,200 crore in the Pratapgarh region and another five NH projects worth Rs 6,215 crore in the Deoria Region of Uttar Pradesh.

One of the key developments is the expansion of a 43-km stretch of NH-330 from Pratapgarh to Sultanpur, which will cost approximately Rs 1,290 crore. This expansion will significantly reduce travel time between Prayagraj and Pratapgarh via Ayodhya. Additionally, a bypass covering a distance of 14 kilometers in Pratapgarh, with an estimated cost of Rs 309 crore, will commence construction shortly.

To enhance road safety, various measures such as the installation of street lights and bus shelters will be implemented along NH-31 at a cost of Rs 27 crore, as announced by the minister. Furthermore, the development of the Pratapgarh-Musafirkhana section will facilitate the growth of essential infrastructure, including cement plants, gas plants, bottling plants, and dairy milk factories.

In August 2023, the construction of a 22-kilometer, four-lane bypass in Deoria will be awarded at a cost of Rs 1,750 crore. This particular project will significantly benefit the underdeveloped areas of Deoria and Gorakhpur, while also improving Uttar Pradesh's connectivity with Bihar.

These infrastructure endeavors are expected to spur investment in Uttar Pradesh and generate numerous employment opportunities, emphasized Gadkari. The stone-laying ceremony witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, further signifying the importance of these projects for the state's development.
