Minister urges expedited development projects in Belagavi district

The Minister of Public Works and District In-charge, Satish Jarakiholi, instructed officials to expedite the implementation process of various projects aimed at the overall development of the Belagavi district. These projects include Railway, Irrigation, Highway, Ring Road, Fly Over Construction, Land Acquisition, and Rehabilitation. During a progress review meeting held on Tuesday (June 13) at the Deputy Commissioner's office, the minister emphasised the need to resolve technical problems hindering the projects as a matter of priority.

The minister also directed officials to scrutinise the construction of the Ring Road, particularly regarding design modifications. He emphasised the importance of considering the opinions of the villagers from small villages like Kadoli, Honaga, Bennali, Agasaga, to avoid causing problems for them due to land acquisition. He suggested identifying an alternative location in the vicinity and completing the pending land acquisition process to facilitate the Halaga-Macche bypass work.

Regarding the construction of Railway Over Bridges at 1st Gate and 2nd Gate, the minister urged immediate calling of tenders for the construction works. He emphasised the need to finalise the design after consulting with high officials from the Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, and Police Department. The minister expressed concern about the unscientific design of railway department bridges and underpasses, causing inconvenience to the public. He proposed that future road over bridges and underpasses should be designed in consultation with officials from the Public Works Department.

Furthermore, the minister discussed the design for a multi-storied building within the premises of the District Collector's office. In relation to the proposed flyover construction project from the National Highway Junction to Ashoka Pillar Circle, the minister discussed the implementation of the first phase with officials. The main objective of the flyover project is to manage traffic flow on the city access road, including the roundabout and both sides of the highway near the Bus Station and R.T.O. The minister suggested considering an extension of the flyover to Peeranwadi after the initial phase is completed.
