The National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) has floated the tender for the proposed Anjaneri-Brahmagiri ropeway project. The NHLML — a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) — took the decision after completing the feasibility test and detailed project report (DPR).

“The 5.7-km-long ropeway connecting the two places will be constructed at a cost of Rs 345 crore. The tenders have been floated and applications will be accepted till July 31,” Nashik MP Hemant Godse, who has been constantly following up the matter with the central agencies for the past five years, said.

Trimbakeshwar, located about 30 km from the city, is one of the 12 jyotirlinga temples in the country. Due to this it attracts a large number of pilgrims. The town also co-hosts kumbh mela with Nashik city once in 12 years.

Citing the importance of the pilgrim spots, the connect between Brahmagiri and Anjaneri, Godse has been stressing on construction of the ropeway that would also help the pilgrims visiting the towns.
