PWD plans elevated corridor on Shivaji Marg

The Public Works Department (PWD) is planning an elevated corridor on the 2.2-km-long Shivaji Marg to address the traffic congestion caused due to parking on roads and encroachment, and to provide seamless connectivity between West, Central and New Delhi.

According to senior PWD officials, the department has decided to conduct a feasibility study to construct a flyover on this stretch and turn the area between Zakhira and Karampura flyovers into a signal-free corridor.

Officials said Shivaji Marg is one of the key stretches connecting West Delhi areas such as Janakpuri to Central Delhi. “Once the flyover comes up, Patel Road and Rohtak Road will be connected and three red lights on this section will be removed. Also, commuters will have a smooth and seamless travelling experience between West and Central parts of the city,” said a senior official.
