Soon, Goa to have solar and renewable energy policy

The Goa government will soon roll out a new solar and renewable energy policy. Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that by 2030, the state will switch to renewable energy for most of its needs.

“Government has approved the policy and it will be sent to the central government for its approval. It includes solar and hydro energy among others. We have prepared a plan on what can be done and where. Once we get approval from the Union government, we will launch the policy,” he said.

“We are the first state in the country to prepare such a plan on renewable energy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the state’s initiative which gives us new enthusiasm to venture into new initiatives,” the chief minister further said.

The collaborative efforts have resulted in the launch of subsidies for solar panel installations, accessible through a user-friendly portal, which is inspiring the people of Goa to adopt environment-friendly methods of electricity generation, the chief minister said.

The state is taking significant strides towards a greener and more sustainable future.
