Development charges to increase by 15-20 times in Ahmedabad

The recent implementation of new jantri rates in April is expected to directly impact the cost of new real estate projects. Adding to the potential price hike, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has decided to increase development charges by 15-20 times the existing rates.

Experts predict that the combination of higher jantri rates and AUDA’s proposed hike in development charges will lead to a rise in property prices in both AUDA and Ahmedabad city areas in the coming months. The same rates will be applicable in the jurisdiction areas of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) as well.

In March, AUDA had formulated a proposal to increase development charges for land and construction by 20 times. The proposal was made public on June 13, and AUDA has invited public suggestions and objections within the next three months. Afterward, the proposal will be submitted to the state government for final approval before its implementation.
