India's Largest Private Rail Coach Plant Inaugurated in Telangana

In Telangana's Kondakal hamlet, India's largest rail private coach plant was inaugurated by the state's Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, and was built by a joint venture of Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd and Stadler Rail. The company creates electrical and electronic railway products.

The chief minister claimed Telangana has expressed joy with Mumbai giving Medha Servo Drives the go-ahead to build monorails. Additionally, he stated that the state was pleased that Telangana would receive train coaches from a local company, Medha Servo Drives. Kashyap Reddy, the company's managing director, stated that the factory's first phase, which required an expenditure of more than Rs 805 crore, was constructed on a site of roughly 100 acres. Each year, it can produce up to 500 coaches and 50 locomotives. According to reports, the plant has already employed more than 550 employees and will shortly hire 1,000 more.

K. T. Rama Rao, Telangana's Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, stated on his Twitter account that this facility will eventually employ 4,000 people after receiving an investment of close to $1 billion.

According to a story by The Indian Express quoting an internal document, the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala earlier this year blamed a production delay of Vande Bharat trains on its suppliers' failure to provide essential components. Additionally, it was said that the facility suffered a setback in the overall manufacturing of all types of coaches in addition to falling short of its production goals for Vande Bharat trains.
