Madurai's Thirumangalam-Othakadai Metro cost Rs 85 bn

It was announced that Madurai city's metro rail project would commence its implementation from Thirumangalam to Othakadai, encompassing a 31-km stretch that would cost Rs 85 billion.

According to T Arjunan, the Project Director of Chennai Metro Rail, they mentioned that they would be constructing an underground track near the Vaigai River, taking utmost caution. It was assured that the construction of the metro project would not have any adverse effects on the traditional monuments located nearby.

At present, a survey is being conducted to assess the land acquisition requirements, and there is a consideration to establish a metro station near the upcoming AIIMS hospital.
