AIIMS Rewari Construction Commences, Completion Expected in 3 Years

Previously, the Haryana government had handed over possession of 203 acre of land to the Union Ministry. According to Union Minister and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, the land handover process had been completed and the construction of the boundary wall was currently underway. Additionally, plans were being made for a grand ceremony to lay the foundation stone of AIIMS Rewari. Singh stated, "The project will not only benefit the health sector but will also create employment opportunities."
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 13 billion, and it is expected to benefit the residents of Rewari, Mahendergarh, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Nuh, Palwal, Faridabad, and parts of Rajasthan. The construction of AIIMS Rewari will provide 3,000 direct and 10,000 indirect job opportunities.
Singh, who has been actively involved in the development of AIIMS, criticised his opponents and critics, noting that they had never even imagined that such an ambitious project (AIIMS Rewari) would come to Rewari. He stated, "Since the day I began working to bring AIIMS to the region, my opponents have lost their sleep." The establishment of AIIMS in Rewari will enhance the healthcare facilities in the area and benefit a large number of people. A team from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare visited Rewari on Wednesday to demarcate the land and took possession of the 203-acre plot.
In 2015, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced plans to bring AIIMS to Rewari during an election rally in Bawal, following a request from Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh. However, the project faced delays due to issues related to land acquisition.
In 2019, just before the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of AIIMS in Rewari. Initially, the institute was planned to be constructed in Rewari's Manethi village. However, the government encountered difficulties in acquiring land there as a significant portion was found to be part of the Aravalis. Consequently, the project was relocated to Majra village.
The institute will include 750 beds, a medical college, a nursing college, specialized ICUs, super specialty departments, and an OPD facility capable of accommodating 1,500 patients daily.
