UP govt announces phase 3 expansion for Noida's Jewar Airport

It was reported on July 6 that the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, had issued a notification regarding the "social impact assessment" (SIA) for the acquisition of an additional 2,053 hectares of land for the third phase expansion of the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar.

According to the CEO of Noida International Airport (NIAL), Arun Vir Singh, a total of 1,888 hectares of land from 14 villages in Jewar tehsil of Gautam Buddh Nagar is set to be acquired. The SIA will be conducted by Gautam Buddha University and is expected to be completed by August 30. Singh stated, "The notification for the acquisition of 2,053 hectare of land for the third phase expansion of the airport was issued last week. Land for the first phase (1,365 hectare) and the second phase (1,334 hectare) has already been acquired."

In addition, he mentioned that as per the airport's development plan, three runways will be constructed during the third phase of the project, in addition to the three runways being built in the first and second phases of construction.

The construction work for the first phase of the airport is currently in progress and is scheduled to be finished for commercial operations by September 2024.
