DMRC submits DPR for Greater Noida to New Delhi Metro Section

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has recently submitted the detailed project report (DPR) to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for the Greater Noida Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi metro section. The DPR proposes approximately seven stations along the route, connecting Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi.

The submitted DPR is currently under review and awaiting final approval from the Uttar Pradesh government. Once approved, the government will decide on the number of stations and the funding pattern for the project.

In addition to this metro section, YEIDA has been assigned the task of establishing a high-speed metro link between the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar and the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. This connection aims to facilitate fast and efficient travel between the two airports.

The DPR for the Jewar Airport and Knowledge Park-2 section has already been submitted to the state government for their consideration and approval.

Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, confirmed the submission of the DPR for the Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi section and stated that they are awaiting the government's approval and further guidance on the project's advancement.

The proposed locations for the seven metro stations along the route have not been disclosed by officials from YEIDA or DMRC. Some of the suggested stations in the plan may include Botanical Garden and Akshardham, but specific details remain undisclosed.

The metro corridor is expected to be developed in two parts: the first part covering 35.64 km from Jewar to Knowledge Park-2 in Greater Noida, and the second part covering 36.36 km from Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi, where commuters will be able to connect to the existing Airport Express Line.

YEIDA estimates suggest that the first phase of the Jewar airport is anticipated to become operational by the end of September 2024. On the first day, nearly 5 million passengers are expected to use the Noida International Airport.
