Air India signs Multi-Year Deal with CFM International for Leap Engines

Air India entered into a multi-year services agreement with CFM International to encompass all the Leap engines in its entire fleet. Additionally, the airline finalised and signed a separate agreement with CFM International, a joint venture between GE and Safran, to supply over 800 Leap engines for its A320 neo family planes and B737 Max planes. This procurement was part of the aircraft order placed in February, which included 210 A320neo family aircraft from Airbus and 190 B737 Max aircraft from Boeing, making it the world's second-largest aircraft order with a total of 470 planes.

The delivery of these newly ordered planes has not yet commenced, but it was previously announced that CFM International would be providing the Leap engines for these aircraft. It's worth noting that Air India has already been operating A320neo family planes with Leap engines since 2017; however, these planes were not included in the aforementioned large-scale order.

The joint statement from CFM International and Air India confirmed the signing of the multi-year services agreement, which will cover all Leap engines, including those on existing planes and the ones on the new aircraft set to join the fleet in the future. However, the specific financial details of the deal were not disclosed in the statement.
