Guwahati’s Project Jyoti fails to live up to its promise

Guwahati Smart City Limited's ambitious Project Jyoti has failed to live up to its promise of illuminating the streets of Guwahati, leaving residents in the dark and questioning the efficiency of the initiative.

The much-anticipated smart street lighting project was launched to transform the city's landscape, enhancing safety, and promoting energy efficiency. However, numerous issues have plagued the implementation, leading to frustration among citizens.

Speaking to G Plus, Anuranjan Das, a resident of Kharguli said, "Despite repeated complaints, it has been months since the street lights stopped working and making it difficult for us to travel through this stretch of Bonkuwar Path"

"The Kharghuli road, at the particular location where the Meghmallar Apartment is situated, did manage to get two street lights installed however, their success was like a fleeting star as the lights didn’t seem to work from the second day itself. It becomes very imperative to have street lights installed at such places because the area looks very deserted and forlorn at 9 PM", another resident of Kharguli said.
